Bruce Springsteen - The Demo Tapes Circa 1971-1972 Unofficial Vinyl Red Labels
Bruce Springsteen, The Demo Tapes Circa 1971-1972, Unofficial Vinyl, Red Labels, VG+
Beautiful demo of "If I Was The Priest" - Springsteen and the piano only. Vibes Man has lyrics that were eventually in New York City Serenade.
The backstory as we understand it: Upon hearing Bruce play in his office, the guy that signed Billie Holiday and Bob Dylan to Columbia, John Hammond, said that Bruce "had to be on Columbia records". Later that week, upon seeing Bruce perform at the Gaslight Club, John Hammond wrote "artist of the decade" on this tape reel, a statement he later said was an understatement. The songs on this bootleg were the demo songs.
